I know very
little about business operations, for the most part I've had sales jobs,
because that's what I have done well in the past. I moved around from company
to company because I couldn't find the "thing" that I wanted to sell.
The product or service that I would be so passionate about that I could get up
each day, go to work and enjoy every bit of it. I realized that I shouldn't
look for someone to provide this for me! I need to provide it for myself.
Although I don't know how to run a business that doesn't mean I can't learn. In
today’s world I have a vast amount of good and bad information at my
fingertips, but if I don't obtain any of it, I'm stuck with the information
that I have. I have nurtured the farmers dying tree for long enough and come up
fruitless. It's time that I plant my own tree and see how that blooms.
Being open to
change is an important characteristic. Life changes all the time we have to be
prepared to go through it. What are you willing to change about yourself and
your environment? Because to have things we want and haven't had we have to be
willing to do things more difficult and that we haven't done. Adapt and proceed
through unexpected obstacles and learn from the mistakes made by ourselves and
those around us.
Honesty is a
funny thing. At times we can be brutally honest with others, but the person we
find it hardest to be honest with is ourselves. We all know that no one is
perfect but to look deep into ourselves and pick it apart at a level that only
you can, takes courage and honesty. The key here is the end game. For Instance
if I am being honest with myself. The Reason I'm starting True Warriors at 27
instead of when I was younger is fear. I finally got to the point where I
refuse to allow fear to bind me any longer. I had the mentality that people who
start businesses have to have lots of money to start; they need keen business
sense and an MBA; that they all have opportunities that I never will. I WAS
WRONG. What I was really saying was “it's difficult and few people are
courageous enough to take that step.” I was really saying “I can't take nothing
and turn it into something.” But the overwhelming honesty came when I admitted
I was afraid to fail. I was afraid to give it everything I had and come up
short. I had convinced myself that shooting and missing was much worse than
never shooting at all. And at 27 I realized that, that thinking was wrong. If I
want it, if I'm willing to work for it with relentless determination, I will
have it. Setbacks are bound to happen but true failure only will come when I
give up.
